Frequently asked questions
What the marketplace is, what it costs, how firms get on it, and what happens to a brief once you send it. If your question is not here, ask us directly.
Using the marketplace
What is Moeletsi Africa?
Moeletsi Africa is a pan-African B2B advisory marketplace. You say what corporate service your business needs done and in which country, and we route the requirement to a verified member firm that can deliver it - across twelve countries in Africa.
How is that different from a directory?
A directory makes you do the work. You search it, you shortlist, you cold-call strangers and you carry the risk of picking wrong. The marketplace reverses that: you describe the outcome you need, we qualify the requirement, and we introduce you to a firm that covers that service in that country.
What does it cost me to use?
Nothing. Starting a request and being introduced to a firm is free and carries no obligation. You pay the firm for the work it does, at that firm's own rates, and you contract with it directly.
How do I start?
Pick the service, then the country. Add as many services as the job needs - they collect in one request - then send it. You can also go straight to a country page and start from there if you already know the market.
Can I ask for more than one thing at once?
Yes, and most real jobs are more than one thing. A new entity usually needs setup, then tax registration, then the accounting behind it. Add each service to the same request and it stays one brief.
Do I get to choose the firm?
You are introduced to a firm chosen on capability, country coverage and current capacity - never on what it pays. If the fit is wrong you say so and we route it again. You are never obliged to proceed.
What if the work crosses a border?
That is what the market-entry route exists for. Setup, tax, compliance and the operational introductions are coordinated under one relationship instead of leaving you to assemble three unconnected firms in three countries.
How quickly will I hear back?
Every request is qualified before anyone is engaged, so there is a real person reading it rather than an auto-reply. We come back to you on the brief itself - including when the answer is that we do not yet have the right firm for it.
The firms on the marketplace
What does verified actually mean?
Business existence, professional standing where the service requires it, the right to deliver in the stated country, credible references, and current membership status. A firm passes those checks before it can receive a brief.
Is verification a guarantee of the work?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Verification establishes that a firm is real, entitled to do the work and accountable for it. The quality of any particular engagement is between you and that firm.
Can a firm pay to be shown first?
No. Every member firm sits on one equal tier. There is no featured placement, no priority slot and nothing that can be bought to jump the order. That rule is written into the Network Charter.
Do you take a cut of what I pay the firm?
The firm pays the network five percent of the invoice on work the marketplace channels to it. That is settled between the firm and Moeletsi. It is not added to your bill.
Joining the network
Who can join?
Established firms working in one or more of the six pillars - company setup and secretarial, accounting and audit, tax and compliance, IP and trademarks, business planning, market entry - in one of the twelve countries. You apply, then you are verified.
What does membership cost?
A monthly network fee, the same for every member firm, and five percent of the invoice on work the network channels to you. There is nothing else, and there is nothing extra to buy.
What does the fee actually buy?
Marketing. The fee funds the work of going out and finding clients, qualifying what comes back, and carrying the marketplace. It is not a listing charge and it does not buy you a job.
How many firms will you take?
One hundred and twenty, across the twelve countries in total - not per country. The cap is the point: a network that keeps selling seats stops being worth joining.
Do I lose my own clients?
No. Work you win yourself stays entirely yours and the network takes nothing from it. Moeletsi does not own your practice and does not approach your clients.
Is there a premium tier I should be asking about?
There is not. One tier, equal share, and tiering will only be looked at again as activity grows - in the open, against the Network Charter, not quietly.
If I join late, is the work already gone?
Earlier members see work sooner, and that is honest rather than a sales line. But the marketplace is built to keep bringing work in, and the cap exists so that everybody in it eventually eats.
Countries, origins and your information
Which countries does the marketplace cover?
Twelve anchor countries: Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, DR Congo, Egypt, Angola and Ethiopia. Each country page carries the status of the firms on it.
Where does Moeletsi come from?
Moeletsi is built on the magazine network of Cabanga Africa Group - twelve regional business editions across 24 African countries. The readers of those editions are the businesses that need this work done, which is how the marketplace started.
What happens to the information I send?
It is used to qualify your requirement and to make the introduction, and nothing else. Your details are not released to a firm until you agree to the introduction, and contact lists are never sold. The full position is on the privacy page.
